Writing and Editing Rates
Writing for books, articles, ad copy, media releases, PR kits,
résumés, Web text, biographical sketches,
and newsletters; editing, proofreading, book review, and book evaluation services offered individually and as packages.
Our writing packages are a great deal for anyone—especially authors—needing online publicity. We offer
book trailers, author interviews, blog tours, and article marketing for authors who want to promote their book. Be sure to check

1. Book Evaluation $250
One of our editors will read your book or manuscript (up to 70,000 words) and give a written assessment of its commercial potential. A kind
but honest opinion of the author's strengths and weaknesses
will be given along with tips for improving the overall quality of writing. The evaluation includes an assessment of the manuscript's publishing condition and what it would take to get it ready to submit to an agent or publisher.

2. Book Review $50 One of our team members will read your book and write a thorough review
(600-800 words). We will post the
review on Amazon.com as well as on our blog and in
our monthly newsletter. You get the Word
and PDF versions of the review to use for other publicity purposes. Click the

3. Résumé and Cover Letter $175
Our expert will create dynamic, organized, and easy-to-read text for your résumé or curriculum vitae (C.V.).
We will highlight your best skills, applicable work experience, and
personality traits, and target your résumé to attract the type of work you desire to obtain.
This price includes up to two pages of text plus a cover letter. Ask for

4. Biographical Sketches
An interesting, professional character sketch that highlights your career path, personal strengths, and
demographic history. A business biography outlines the services/products your business offers, gives company history,
interesting facts and other pertinent information. See

are calculated on 25 cents per word (100-word minimum).
- 250 words = $62.50
- 350 words = $87.50
- 450 words = $112.50
- 550 words = $137.50
- 750 words = $187.50
These prices also apply to writing for Web text.
5. Newsletter Article Package $400
Up to five content-rich articles (up to 2,000 words total) written by a member of our team.
Articles will be specific to your target reader, business, or industry. Layout
provided by our graphic designer to promote your branding image is charged
separately. Your file will
be ready for printing or electronic distribution.

6. Proofreading for Book Proofreader will mark
all technical errors and return manuscript to the author as a digital document. Cost
for proofreading is $2 per 250-word page (the average word count per page in a 6"x9" paperback book).
The author is responsible for completing the suggested changes. The average
paperback book has approximately 275 pages or 70,000 words.
7. Copy (line) Editing for Book
Our editor will analyze your book manuscript and mark all technical errors, and
then return two electronic copies of the manuscript to the author. One will be a
red-line copy tracking the changes we make; the other will be a clean copy to
show you how the text will look with all our suggestions accepted.
Light to medium copyediting is $4 per
250-word page (the average word count per page in a 6"x9" paperback
book). The average paperback book has approximately 275 pages.
Our editor will complete the suggested changes to include:
- Correcting mechanical, grammar and usage errors.
- Correcting spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Check for proper alignment and spacing of text. Mark
inconsistencies.
- Check formatted columns, dates, headlines,
numbers, alphabetized, bulleted and numbered lists. Mark
inconsistencies.
- Awkward transitions, redundancies, and hyperbole will be noted. Author is
responsible for making these suggested changes.
- Note any biased language or stereotyping.
- Query author for information as needed.
Heavy or
conceptual
copyediting includes all the items in a light copyedit PLUS our editor will rewrite any
awkward sections, adjust text for better flow and make any other needed changes. Starting at $6 per page (price depends upon how much rewriting is required).
A deposit of 20% is required before project begins.
8. Ghostwriting for Book You have an idea for a book, but you
don't have the time to complete the project. We will write your book for
you, yet your name will appear on the cover. Approximate total project prices are
between $5,000 to $15,000 depending upon the amount of research, interviews and transcribing,
and how many pages the completed book contains.
A deposit of 20% is required up front.
All our rates are based on $50 per hour; however, we try to accommodate every budget possible.
We accept major credit cards via PayPal.com. Final draft of a document is released only after payment is received.

9. Podcast Interview $50 One of our hosts will interview
you and feature your book on Writers in the Sky Podcast. You get the edited MP3 file to use for
your own promotion ideas. The file is also posted on iTunes.com where podcast seekers
may find it. An announcement of your upcoming show will be posted
twice on our blog and once in our newsletter. We also post a monthly online media release about the upcoming shows.

10. Book Review PLUS Author Podcast Interview $75
We write a book review
for you and post it on Amazon.com as detailed in
package #2 above. Our podcast host will interview you as a
guest author on Writers in the Sky Podcast as outlined in
package #9 above. You
get both items (#2 and #9) for $75. These two items are $50 each if

Media Release Package $125
One

14. Create a One-pager $150
A one-pager is an important part of any media kit. It contains a very concise description of the author, the book,
tips or story angles, photo of the author, photo of the cover of the book,
and your contact information. This "quick glance" reference sheet is used by
the media to determine whether or not a journalist
or radio show wants to ask you for an interview. We format it for a great
first impression.

15. Online Media Kit $ 750
This is a "full deal" media kit that we will create for you in an electronic
form. This kit may be sent to online media or printed for
print media or along with your cover letter to request other book review
services.
Here is what we will do:
Write a cover letter introducing your media kit to the recipient
Create your one-pager (see #14 above)
Make a List of questions an interviewer should ask you. We compile this
from reading your book.
Facts Sheet (pdf) about your book
Photos (you provide to us)
Résumé (you provide to us or we will create one for an extra $150--discounted
from our regular $175 when purchased as part of this package)
Create full-length bio (see #4 above)
Write one media release (500 words) about the release of your book
Write one 500-word article about the topic of your book
Author interview on WITS podcast (promoted on our blog and in our
newsletter)
An MP3 audio file of your interview on our podcast
Write a review for your book (it will also be featured on our blog and in our newsletter)
Write a synopsis of your book
List of speaking events/experience (you provide, we will format it to
match the cohesive theme of the entire media kit).

16. Video Trailer $300
Just like movies have a trailer, so can books. Many people are posting these on the Internet for others to view.
Our own Taryn Simpson will create a video trailer for your book and publish it on
Youtube.com.

17. Virtual Blog Tour If you are an author in need of an
online book promotion, we highly recommend a virtual book tour. This
type of Internet publicity uses a blog format to reach readers and
